Summer is well and truly here and its time to get ready for the summer holidays. Schools will soon be closing for the summer kicking off the holiday season. New research has highlighted that there is going to be a huge boom in people choosing to have stay-cations.
According to research carried out by Sykes Holiday Cottages, holiday let bookings in Scotland are up 47% year-on-year. This is a whooping 32% increase from 2019!
This means that four in five (80%) Scots will be holidaying in Scotland this year rather than going abroad, in addition to this two in five (42%) have said that this will be their main summer holiday.
It’s not just Scotland, two thirds (32%) of holiday makers across the UK have already booked trips to Scotland with a further 29% planning to do so by the end of the year.
This is brilliant news for the tourism industry in Scotland and especially Dumfries and Galloway with our beautiful region overtaking the highlands as the most in demand region in Scotland this year. Southerness currently is the most booked area.
