2024 was another exciting year here at Thomsons Foodservice

2024 was another exciting year here at Thomsons Foodservice.

As always, we like to celebrate milestone birthdays with our amazing staff. In January, Angela celebrated her 50th birthday, followed by Aaron turning 30 in June and finally our head butcher Davie turned 60 in September.

In February, we attended the Fairway ‘Meet The Member’ Event. This is always a worthwhile few days meeting with suppliers old and new and discussing new products, market trends etc/ This allows us to ensure the business is fully stocked with key products at the best possible value for the busy seasons ahead.

As always, we commit to sponsoring and helping local charities and causes. This year we sponsored ‘The Larder of the Lowlands’, ‘Awarding Wigtownshire’, ‘Music at the Multiverse’ and ‘Red Bow Charity’ to name a few.

In April, Michael & Jackie took a trip to sunny Sanquhar to wish Willie and John Forsyth a Happy Retirement. These two fantastic guys ran their butcher’s shop and were an invaluable part of the Sanquhar Community. It had been in the family since 1936 so it really was the end of an era. We thanked them for all their business throughout the years and wished them both the best.

Another memorable moment happened in May when we were lucky enough to host the newly appointed Cairndale Spa team. They treated all of our team to some wonderful spa treatments.

2024 definitely was the year of the Spaniel! Over the summer months word got out about our amazing dog ice cream ‘Gelato Woof’. This resulted in a steady stream of furry friends visiting the depot.

In June, as the Euro Football Tournament was about to begin, we decked out our office and ‘Dared to Dream’ along with the rest of the country. Despite the result it created a buzz and a definite talking point for all of our staff and customers.

We welcomed Gordon Newlands, Brands Development Manager for Quality Meat Scotland (QMS) in October. Here at Thomsons Foodservice we pride ourselves on the quality and higher welfare of our meat and as such are keen to promote QMS wherever possible. We are looking forward to working closely with Gordon and his team.

During the year we have produced two product guides. A lot of work goes into these brochures but they are worthwhile to showcase our amazing products. We are proud to supply a substantial number of local and Scottish products and these brochures help to promote these products and encourage growth of both our business and theirs.

This year ended with another fantastic Christmas works night out. It really is a highlight with some of the best dance moves in the shire!!

Roll on next year..
